A good selection of home decorating ideas is essential when your planning on building or remodeling your home or apartment.
In 2000, we bought an apartment and gutted it out. There was nothing left but bare walls and a cement floor.
One of the first things we did was to purchase numerous decorating magazines, cut out ideas that interested us and file them all in our home decorating ideas arquive.
Besides being fun time spent together as a couple, the many ideas sparked our imagination and helped us visualize what our apartment would look like once the remodeling was completed.
One of the things I discovered in this process was the importance of having a decorating plan for the entire home even if you only plan to remodel one room. This helps to create an overall harmony.
A lesson I learned after the fact, however, was the need to identify one´s decorating style. Each one of us has a preference for a particular style which, when used, helps us to feel more at home.

Since we didn´t discover this book until after our apartment was finished, we had to replace a few objects to better align with our style. It was well worth it, though. We now have an apartment that better reflects our own personality and style and, consequently, makes us feel more at home.
