Local Advertising Ideas
Local advertising comes in many forms - coupons, flyers, local paper ads, Yellow Pages, etc. Each one of these has its pros and cons.
The ability to generate positive results with local advertising can be increased through the application of proven techniques. However, a more recent advertising method has proven to be far superior to all the traditional methods.
What local advertising method are we talking about? If you really want to see a return on your advertising investment, a theme-based, content-filled web site is your best bet.
You're probably asking, "How can the World Wide Web help my local business?" Surprisingly, a web site correctly done can significantly outproduce classified and Yellow Page ads.
Take Dr. John Burch for example. Dr. Burch is a local community dentist in beautiful Mountain View, California.
About two years ago, Dr Burch decided to look into various ways to market his practice.
The first thing he noticed was the high cost of traditional marketing. And, he was not able to get much of a response with the various methods he tried (coupons, new homeowners, yellow pages, newspaper ads and an expensive newsletter).
Then, someone recommended that he build a Web site, and use the Internet to market his practice. He did some research, and found SiteBuildIt. I downloaded the Action Guide, and began learning how to "do it myself."
He chose drburch.com as my domain, and "Mountain View Dentist" as my primary search term.
Only a few months after beginning his web site, he was getting an average of 63 unique visitors daily, and converting better than one in one-hundred visitors into a new patient.
He analyzed his Return on Investment. He was getting about 1800 monthly unique visitors, and seeing 22 new patients each month. So his conversion was really better than 1/100.
In the dental field, the average new patient needs about $1000 worth in treatment. And of course, the lifetime value of a new patient is several times that amount.
Here is what Dr. Burch had to say.
"My wife and I met with my CPA yesterday, to review 2004 and get caught up on tax matters. His first remark was how much new business my dental practice had seen last year. "Your income is up almost $120,000. How come?" Well, as you can imagine, I told him about my Web site. He opened my site at www.drburch.com and was stunned that I had done that myself."
Of course, it isn't just any web site that will work. As Dr. Burch went on to say, "I then had him open his new $7,500 flashy accounting Web site, and (very gently) showed him some of the design errors that existed in his code. You could have cut the air with a butter knife! But, he quickly got over that!"
Dr. Burch's succes can be attributed to two factors. One, he focused on something he knew well. Two, he used the most complete web business building system of tools that is based on the proven CTPM formula of success.
